Pipercross sportluchtfilters worden sinds 1978 in het Engelse Northampton gefabriceerd. Daarbij wordt gebruik gemaakt van verschillende soorten foam met een speciale honingraat celstructuur. Zo wordt een maximale luchtdoorvoer bereikt, terwijl wel alle stofdeeltjes uit de aangezogen lucht gefilterd worden.
Pipercross levert diverse mogelijkheden om maximale prestaties uit een automotor te halen, en tevens de “looks” onder de motorkap te verbeteren.
Door veel testwerk te verrichten heeft Pipercross ondervonden dat aangezogen lucht, als het uit het filtermateriaal komt, erg turbulent is. Hierdoor wordt de snelheid van de luchtstroom naar de motor nadelig beïnvloed. Vooral bij het accelereren en in hogere toerengebieden kostte dit veel vermogen. Om dit probleem op te lossen, ontwierp Pipercross een compleet nieuw concept van luchtinductie. Het zwarte foam voor de buitenlaag wordt in Vortex uitvoering vervaardigd, waardoor de lucht verdeeld en grotendeels ook gestuurd wordt. Als de lucht dan vervolgens uit de rode binnenlaag komt, is de turbulentie ruim 70% teruggebracht, waardoor deze sneller naar de motor kan stromen.
