A dump trap or blow off valve serves for faster acceleration during shifting with turbo cars. When switching, taking back or releasing gas, an overpressure is created in the air system. With a dump trap, the excess turbo pressure is removed from the intake system, so that your turbo remains at speed. When the accelerator pedal is depressed again, it takes less time before the turbo pressure is rebuilt.
